So I was on my way to recycle our glass bottles just around the corner from my house, I live in the lovely Marolles, (do check out the link and enjoy a virtual tour of the coolest flea market, the land of hidden treasures known as Jeu de Balle) when I noticed this beautiful art nouveau building and just behind it these hidden words
TIME IS HONEY
which made me think of a much loved and listened to New Order song "Crystal" that makes the same word play.
Here comes love, it's like honey, you can't buy it with money
The Marolles, is a traditionally working class neighbourhood with strong anti-authoritarian sentiments that is undergoing gentrification and is often referred to as the sunken city (since there is a lift with a breathtaking view of Brussels that transports you from the Chanel and Dior world of Louise to the antique and vintage stores and art galleries of the Marolles). In the Marolles I have made my home, it is full of beautiful treasures from the olden days, typical Belgian old-man bars, deliciously good restaurants and a mélange of smells, colours and people that make our often sleepy city of Brussels seem more alive than ever. My favourite thing to do on a Sunday morning is a stroll around the flea market, where I have found, bargained over and stolen most of the things in my flat, and then enjoying a soup-size latte served by tattoo-covered hipsters at the Chaff on Jeu de Balle. Enjoy some of the photos I have taken out and about in the Marolles!

I colour my life with the chaos of trouble.
Playground Love at Jeu de Balle
and I once knew a boy who lived under a giraffe
learning to look at the world sideways...
lost in celluloid dreams
view from my first house in the Marolles

Kill your idols

Randon medical freak show at Recyclart (one of my favourite venues in Brussels, an adandoned train station that appears to be taken over by art loving hooligan graffiti artists: great concerts, exhibitions and DJ sets and in the summertime they will even teach you how to bake!)
The coolest/scariest hardware store window!

Gorillaz at the skater park!
In dreams...
And I am leaving you with another honey song I love
Listen to the girl
As she takes on half the world
Moving up and so alive
In her honey dripping beehive
