Elbow: Cause the night will always win

ARE WE HAVING THE TIME OF OUR LIVES?

Last Saturday I went to see Elbow at Forest National, a massive stadium size venue which is admittadly not my preferred venue for concerts (see we are quite spoiled in Brussels firstly cause a lot of bands on a European tour end up stopping at our city, which is conveniently located "on the way" and secondly cause we have beautiful and far more 'intimate' venues such as Botanique, a former botanical garden whose green lawns and glass walls still remain in tact and are an indespensible part of what has been the cultural center of the French Community since the mid 80s and Ancienne Belgique, one of the key Flemish cultural organisations which is located in the very heart of downtown Brussels). So back to the concert, Elbow are 5 boys from Manchester who have been making beautiful pop-rock music for the past 20 years and who I was surprised to find out have an enormous fan base of all ages. They play beautifully simple music which is accompanied by a spectacular light show, at one point we were travelling through fluorescent pink gallaxies on a disco ball!, and probably have the most engaged with the audience lead singer I have ever seen, not to mention his crystal clear voice! A definate highlight of the show was the encore, when the entire band returned playing trumpets, a beautiful projection of fireflies and the way the lovely Mr Guy Garvey became more and more talkative and prone to a cappella singing with the end of every beer. An unexpected treat. Enjoy the music!

I miss your stupid face, I miss your bad advice...

and a hit single you might recognise!
