You know you're living when it all becomes a blur...

  WHAT 2013 WAS ALL ABOUT

As this year is coming to an end, one day left darlings and we get to kiss this bitch of a year goodbye, I couldn't resist the urge of drawing up a list of the things that made 2013 special for yours truly. ENJOY.

1. THE GROWLERS

Cause they have been the soundtrack of my life for the past few months and are undoubtedly my biggest recent musical crush!

2. PITCHFORK MUSIC FESTIVAL PARIS

Cause I went for the first time to what is easily the most civilized music festival and had the time of my life! Amazing company, awesome music from the likes of Todd Terje, The Knife, Omar Souleyman, Junip, Jon Hopkins, Jagwar Ma, Hot Chip, Glass Candy, Yo La Tengo, Disclosure and Connan Mockasin and one of the best festival venues La Grande Halle de la Villette.

Marylin, cause she made our nest in Montmartre special.

3. MAKING LOVE HAPPEN

Cause I know I have done at least one right thing in my life when 2 of my closest friends that I introduced to each other and actually organized their first official date decide to tie the knot. I was the happiest 'best man' this summer, cause we all love love.

4. WANDERLUST
Cause in 2014 I will be embarking on a new adventure....

5. ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BOYS

That have colored my life with the chaos of trouble during the last few months...BIG LOVE

6. THE REFLEKTORS aka Arcade Fire

Cause 2013 was their year and everything they did was pure GOLD.

7. THE DEEP SEA

Cause I have spent the better part of the last year and a half trying to save it!

This is an amazing comic strip that accompanied a petition against deep-sea bottom trawling. It explains the story of how after the over-exploitation of demersal fish stocks we discovered new fuel intensive techniques to fish further from the coast and at greater depths whilst destroying corals and sponges that live thousands of years to catch extremely vulnerable fish that no one really wants to eat!

8. LA GRANDE BELLEZZA

9. Our high school reunion and our matching tattoos

10. MARGARET ATWOOD

For ooooh so many reasons...

PARADISE

I absolutely fell in love with this video and song! All you lucky ones that went to Pitchfork may have seen "Wild Nothing" and needless to say I'm gutted I didn't get to see them last weekend at Magasin 4 in Brussels! So a video about Wanderlust with Michelle Williams reciting extracts from Iris Murdoch's 1975 novel "A World Child". Enjoy.

Everything was love.
Everything will be love.
Everything has been love.
Everything would be love.
Everything would have been love
Ha and that was it
The truth at last
Everything would have been love
The huge eye with had become an immense sphere was gently breathing
Only it was not an eye nor a sphere
But a great wonderful animal covered in little waving legs like hairs
Waving oh so gently as if they were underwater
"All shall be well and all shall be well" said the ocean
So the place of reconciliation existed after all
Not like a little not all in a cupboard
But flowing everywhere and being everything
I had only to will it and it would be
For spirit is omnipotent only I never knew it
Like being able to walk on the air
I could forgive
I could be forgiven
I could forgive
Perhaps that was the whole of it after all
Perhaps being forgiven was just forgiving only no one had ever told me
There was nothing else needful
Just to forgive
Forgiving equals being forgiven
The secret of the universe
Do not whatever you do forget it
The past was folded up and in a twinkle of an eye
Everything had been changed
And made beautiful and good

Photo I took on my way home to Greeceland last week.

And since the video is partly filmed in the Niagara Falls, here is a photo I took 2 winters ago with a fisheye lomography camera

On another note it's that time of the year again, the time when a fabulously expensive designer collaborates with H&M to bring fashion to the masses so ladies and fashionable gentlemen  around the globe time to mark your calendars and set your alarms on the 15th of November as Maison Martin Margiela (one of Belgium's finest!) will be available at an H&M near you! I love the promotion video and the choreographed cat walk for the unveiling of the collection in NYC on the 24th of October. Enjoy a sneak peak.

I have my eye set on the following items

Candy Wrapper Clutch

I also love the plexiglass heals

How we ran away to Paris on a whim, met John Galliano and discovered that love is a laser quest!

Sorry for the radio silence but a lot has happened recently and life seems to be a bit of whirlwind  at the moment, full of instabilities, turbulence and unpredictable twists and turns! Yet last weekend was one of the best weekends I had in a while so I wanted to share with you how I ended up going to Paris on a whim and feeling utterly alive again! It was Friday and me and a colleague and dear friend, we were both suffering from a broken heart you see, decided to escape to gay Paris for a weekend of fun and frolic, after going through a brief list of fun activities to distract ourselves. A few hours later and after recruiting another friend, we were on the road! Battling through snowy Brussels (yes, the first snow this winter season found us on the highway trying to escape our often a bit too gloomy city) with an excellent soundtrack to go along with our elevated spirits we embarked on a sweet adventure! On the road this became our song....

Do you still feel younger than you thought you would by now
Or, darling, have you started feeling old yet
Don't worry, I'm sure that you're still breaking hearts
With the efficiency that only youth can harness...
And do you look into the mirror to remind yourself you're there
Or have somebody's good-night kisses got that covered

Le Marais (my favorite neighborhood in Paris! also known as the neighborhood of the gay Jew) opened its arms and embraced us by offering ample nourishment, alcohol and lovely people to mark our arrival! We wondered and got lost and saw Diane Arbus's amazingly haunting photos and met John Galliano and tasted the greenest of teas and Paris was a dream and it made us smile!
